Why Suspensions Happen
Guideline violations. Keyword stuffing in your business name is the #1 offender. Review the official Google Business Profile guidelines before making any changes. If your legal business name is "Bob's Plumbing" but your GBP says "Bob's Plumbing — Best Emergency Plumber in Dallas TX," that's a suspension waiting to happen.
Address issues. Virtual offices, PO boxes, and co-working spaces without a dedicated suite can trigger suspensions.
Multiple listings. If Google detects duplicate listings for the same business at the same address, both can get suspended.
Spam reports. Competitors can report your listing. If Google agrees the report has merit, you're done.
The Recovery Process
Step 1: Identify the cause. Review Google's Business Profile guidelines line by line. Be honest about what you might have violated.
Step 2: Fix the violation. Change your business name back to the legal name. Fix your address. Remove duplicate listings.
Step 3: Submit a reinstatement request. Go to the GBP support page and file a reinstatement form. Be specific about what you fixed.
Step 4: Wait. Reinstatements typically take 3-7 business days. Don't submit multiple requests — it slows things down.
Step 5: Escalate if needed. If your first request is denied, use the GBP community forum. Google Product Experts can escalate your case.
