Your Content Already Has Steps. Tell Google About Them.
If you publish how-to content (tutorials, guides, DIY instructions), How-To schema markup lets Google display your steps directly in search results.
Users can see the process before they click. It builds trust and drives qualified traffic. If you are new to structured data, start with our schema markup beginner guide. The full list of supported properties lives at schema.org.
When to Use It
The content must be a genuine how-to guide. Step-by-step instructions. Not a general article that happens to have numbered sections.
Each step should have a clear name and description. Optionally, include images and videos for each step.
Implementation Tips
Include the total time needed (`totalTime`). List required tools and supplies (`tool` and `supply`). Keep step descriptions concise but complete.
The steps on the page must match the steps in the schema. No hiding content or mismatching.
