Review Marketing: Turn Your Best Reviews Into Sales Machines

Your reviews shouldn't just sit on Google. They should be working for you everywhere — on your website, ads, social media, and more.

Your Reviews Are Marketing Gold. Stop Hoarding Them.

You've worked hard to earn those five-star reviews. Now what?

If they're just sitting on your Google listing, you're wasting 90% of their value.

Reviews are social proof. And social proof should be EVERYWHERE.

Where to Repurpose Your Reviews

Your website. Add review widgets to your homepage, service pages, and local landing pages. Use Google's reviews API or a tool like EmbedReviews.

Social media. Turn your best reviews into graphics. Quote the review, add your branding, post it on Instagram and Facebook. These perform incredibly well.

Email marketing. Include a "What our customers are saying" section in your newsletters. Rotate fresh reviews monthly.

Paid ads. Use review quotes in your Google Ads and Facebook Ads. Ads with social proof convert 15-20% better. Combine this with schema markup to get star ratings showing in your organic search results too.

Proposals and sales materials. When pitching new business, include relevant reviews as testimonials. A five-star review from a similar client is more persuasive than anything you could say about yourself.

The Best Reviews to Feature

Not all reviews are equal for marketing purposes. The best ones:

  • Mention specific services or results
  • Include the customer's full name (or first name + last initial)
  • Reference a specific problem you solved
  • Are detailed and authentic-sounding
  • "Bob's team fixed our plumbing emergency at 2am on a Sunday. Our basement was flooding and they were here in 30 minutes. Lifesaver!" beats "Good service" every single time.

    Ask Permission (Sometimes)

For reviews on Google, you're generally free to quote them. But for using someone's review in paid advertising, it's good practice to ask permission first. Search Engine Journal's local SEO resource has more on the legal nuances.
